Day 3: Vatican City and More of Rome

After our first long day during the tour, it was time for a early wake up call. Arin is a person who can snooze ten hours in the morning if he wants to. So, trying to wake him up in time for breakfast could be challenge. Thankfully, he got down in time to eat breakfast before we went! - C

Breakfast & Vatican City

All our hotels had a breakfast that was set up for us every morning. There were all kinds of things from fresh fruit, warm bread, and cheese to Western favorites like eggs and bacon.  Coffee, tea, and juices made up the drinks. After eating, we got ready to head off to the Vatican City. This time, we were going to take the metro. Being on a subway was no biggie, but it's also a hotbed for pickpockets. So, we had to be wary while riding around.

Once at Vatican City, we got in really quickly. And it's a good thing too!  We met up with our local guide, Paolo, who gave us a little info behind Vatican City. The line fills up really fast and you might be there for a long time if you're late. Make note that Vatican City is it's own place. It's got its own zip code and is considered a country. You cannot wear anything that reveals a little too much, not even anything sleeveless or above the knee.

Vatican City and Afterwards

After we spent some time in Vatican City, trying to figure out what to do after proved a challenge. Even with Patricia's help, getting tickets for a lot of things (The Vatican Museums for example) were booked well in advance and all sold out. Thankfully, we were able to go to some museums and enjoy some art. Plus getting some lunch and having some quiet time after a busy morning was more than welcome.

Tip: I recommend getting tickets to things you want to see in advance. Also, if you want to take any cooking classes or tours, after Vatican City would be a great time for that.

Tip #2: At Vatican City, there's a strict dress code. Basically no shorts or anything that goes above the knee. No sleeveless shirts either. Basically, they want you to dress decently.
