Day 6: Levanto

At last, we ended up in the coastal town of Levanto where we'd take off to see the Cinque Terre. That being said, we made a few stops along the way and got to eat some delicious food (then again, we get to eat delicious food everywhere!)

The Olive Farm

Before we departed for Florence, we stopped for lunch at a family-owned olive farm. We learned the process of how olive oil is made and were able to try some of the products. Drinking the olive oil did burn a little bit, but it was a good burn. The olive oil spread as well as the pasta was fantastic. As a bonus, we got to play with their dog, Bruno!

After we left the farm, we got a special visit that allowed to stop and stretch our legs. The American GI Cemetery.

Levanto

After a long ride to the coast, we finally made it to Levanto and trekked out to see the town. Patricia's showed up the way to get to Monterossa el Mar, one of the villages of the Cinque Terre, by climbing steps and hiking. Granted, Cithara wasn't feeling too well thanks to her blood pressure so we decided to rest in Levanto (Don't worry, she felt better with some rest).

Dinner came at the hotel from the owners, Daniela and Carlo who cooked everything. Lots of seafood, pasta with pesto, vegetables, and for dessert, profiteroles (tiny little balls to dip in chocolate).  After a long trip driving down here, it's what we needed. We had a long day ahead of us for visiting the Cinque Terre.

Tip: There are many ways to get to the Cinque Terre from here. You can take the train that stops at each village. When weather permits, you can also take a boat to each one. And if you're feeling adventurous enough, you can walk.
